Porsche OBDII to RPM adapter

Postby kgorman » Sun Feb 15, 2009 6:30 pm

We have a nice cable for gathering RPM on Porsche 996/986 cars through the OBDII port. This cable is easily removed as well.

Kenny, do you know if this works on cars other than Porsche's? Shouldn't the OBD-II be consistent on 96+ cars?

This only works with this generation of cars because Porsche decided to provide RPM at the OBDII plug. Subsequent revisions removed that function.

Best to tap at the DME/ECU.

Being that Gorman Motorsports is out of data acquisition market and presumably not offering this adapter anymore, does anyone know where to find something similar, so as to not have to get at the actual ECU? Also, is it possible to hook into other sensor data besides RPM from the OBDII on 996 TT? Thanks, Fred

I would recommend a search on Rennlist for this specific porsche question. We currently do not support OBDII data.

Also some of our dealers may have the answers you are looking for.
